Business valuation
We value companies, shares and business interests for transactions, shareholder changes, financial reporting and planning.
Each report opens with the value and the range around it, then sets out the evidence and the reasoning, so a buyer, an investor, a board or an auditor can test every figure.
We have no lending or trading interest in the businesses we value, so the figure rests on the evidence alone. We value businesses in Qatar and across the Gulf, and further afield where our clients invest.
When clients come to us
- Buying or selling
- A view of value before a price is agreed, and the evidence to support it in negotiation.
- Raising capital
- A pre-money valuation that investors can test, built on the same model as the business plan.
- Shareholder changes
- Buy-outs, exits, new partners and shareholder agreements that need a fair, documented price.
- Financial reporting
- Fair values of businesses and shares for financial statements, and for the auditors who review them.
- Planning
- Group reorganisations, succession, and decisions about which businesses to keep, grow or sell.
Three approaches to value
Market. Prices paid for comparable listed companies and in comparable transactions, adjusted for size, growth and risk.
Income. Discounted cash flows from a forecast we test line by line, with a discount rate built from market evidence.
Cost. Net assets at current values, used for asset-heavy businesses and as a floor for the other two.
Where the approaches agree, the value is well supported. Where they differ, we say why and which one we rely on.
What clients receive
The report
It leads with the value and the range around it, then sets out the basis of value, the valuation date and every assumption.
The model
The financial model behind the valuation, built so each figure can be traced to its source.
The sensitivities
A table showing which assumptions move the value most, and by how much.
The discussion
A working session with the board, the buyer or the investor to take questions on the numbers.
